21st Birthday

I had a great 21st birthday weekend. It started Saturday, since I had just finished finals Friday night. I got to sleep in, and have a very relaxing day. It was great! I spent most of the day reading Eclipse from the Twilight Saga. Jay was nice enough to go downtown and look at furniture stores with me for the fun of it. He also cooked me a wonderful dinner. Twice-baked bake potatoes, corn on the cob, and a delicious spinach salad with apples, chicken, and candied nuts. I got a kick out of listening to him freak out in the kitchen. It was pretty funny! He also baked me the cake pictured below, and we had ice cream too!

Jay's handiwork. Not to shabby!

I will admit that I was a little disappointed when I did not get any cards in the mail, not even from my parents! No big deal though. However, Sunday morning was nice. Jay made breakfast, and we headed to church as usual. I was teaching my Sunbeam class and we had a fun time. It also happened to be the birthday of the lady I team teach with. Go figure! I will also admit, that I was a little disappointed again when the kids in Primary sang to her, but not to me. Whatever, not the end of the world. After church we headed up to Atascadero to spend Sunday dinner with Dave and Renee (Jay's parents) like usual. About an hour after we got there, the door bell rang. I got up to answer it, but I couldn't see anyone out the window. As I got a little closer, I realized there was a little boy. Then, when I opened the door, I realized that the little boy was my nephew, Kai! Of course that was when I saw everyone else; Mom, Dad, Ethan, Anna, Ryan, Jenn, and the little guy Dax. I can't tell you how much of a surprise that was! I was very very happy and shocked! They all drove 2.5 hours just to spend a couple hours with me on my birthday. Both of Jay's grandma's came, as well as his uncle Robert as well. We had a great BBQ that Dave cooked, along with more cake and ice cream. I got to open all of my gifts, which by the way were great! Money, gift cards to go shopping and a 1 hour massage, Bath & Body Works goodies, slippers, my new tractor shirt, an external hard drive for my computer, a beautiful new framed wedding picture and wedding album. I really got it made! I can't really express how much this all meant to me. I'm so thankful for my sweet, sweet husband who put this all together and kept it a surprise. I'm also very grateful for the willingness of all my family to spend the time and money to come be with me for a few hours. I know it was a sacrifice with little kids and my Dad's calling as a Bishop. Of course, I'm also really thankful for my great in-laws for their hospitality and willingness to host it all. It was such a wonderful day being with all of our family. That was all I really could have asked for.

Dangit! I didn't even blow it all out on one breath.

Gift time!

After a year and a half of being married, I finally
have a wedding picture to hang on the wall!
It came out so pretty!

I couldn't believe how well the wedding album came out. This is just one page. Jay's Aunt Lexi did a wonderful job as out photographer and designing the album for Jay.

This is My Town

As I was logging out of my Yahoo email account, the featured story was America's Best Places to Live. Curious, I clicked on the link to read more. Low and behold, San Luis Obispo, CA is ranked in the top ten! Furthermore, I checked out U.S.News and found the same thing. I was also very happy to see Cal Poly ranked very high (in the top ten for most categories) as well! I am one lucky girl to live in such an awesome, fun town and to go to school at the 'Best in the West!'
