Country Time

Saturday night, after working hard on the scooter, Jay and I got all slickered up in our western gear. We had a yummy BBQ dinner, and drove down to Arroyo Grande to see Jack Ingram live in concert. (Jay's present for Valentine's Day)

We had a BLAST, and were very impressed that Jack was so talented! He has a great voice, and we both agree that he sounds better live than on the radio. It was a great ending to a great week.

Scoot Scoot Scooter!

Yes, this is MY new scooter! It is a TNG Venice 49cc. Jay and I had been looking at some (new and used) for about 6 months now. I quickly picked this make and model as my favorite because I love the retro style, with a 49cc you don't need a special license, and simply because it was small enough for my short body! Haha

Anyway we ended up finding this one for sale and got a great deal on it! Saturday we took it up to Atascadero to Jay's parents house. Jay and Dave did the maintenance thing and checked it all out to make sure it will run real good for me. :) Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it before we started taking off the panels.

Then the real work began. I never did like the colors, especially the beige. So, to solve this problem, we decided to paint it! I've been getting a lot of new hand-on experience as a Mattice, and this was no exception!

The whole afternoon was spent sanding all of the panels. By the end of the day my neck, shoulders, and arms were so tired and sore. The pain was well worth it though! The best part was going to Napa and picking out the colors. What color did I choose?? Black and Metallic Turquoise! What a shocker, eh? I'm so predictable sometimes. You can see the color difference from the picture above before sanding to the picture below after it was all sanded.

So here is the new beautiful paint on my scooter. It's pretty and sparkly in the light, and I'm super happy with how it came out. We didn't get a chance to finish painting the rest of the panels (that used to be beige) black. When it's all finished this week, I'll post a final after picture.
